5th Annual Bay 5/10 K Run/Walk for Charity - Oct 2, 2010
Posted by Jim Connaughton
This fun Run/Walk event takes place on Saturday, October 2nd on the historic grounds of the Bay View Association in Petoskey, MI. Each year the event gets bigger and last year over 120 runners and walkers helped raise over $5,000 for local charities. Come join the fun for a great cause!
Rotary is all about serving others and the Sunrise Rotary Club raises money to help in a wide range of projects ranging from local little league baseball to an orphanage in Ukraine.
Proceeds from this charity run/walk will go specifically to help the following local area organizations: American Red Cross, Camp Daggett, Jr. Achievement, Manna Food Pantry, Nehemiah House, Operation Thanksgiving, Salvation Army, the Women’s Resource Center and the YMCA. Year after year, these organizations make a positive impact in our area and we appreciate your help.
This is the fifth annual run/walk event and each year it gets better. The event will take place on the grounds of scenic and historic Bay View Association in Petoskey. Bay View is a National Historic Landmark community which is home to more than 30 community-owned buildings, nearly 450 cottages and two inns situated on 337 terraced acres in beautiful northwest Lower Michigan. As an added bonus, the fall color season will be in full swing, making the setting for this event breathtaking (no pun intended!)
All participants receive a race logo clothing item, refreshments, a great event and the satisfaction of helping others. This race is an endorsed event for the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness.
The 5K course will wind through the campus and residential areas. The 10K course will be a combination of campus, residential and includes the bike path along Petoskey’s beautiful waterfront.
The entry fee is $20 in advance; $25 day of event. Registration can be done by mail or on-site the day of the event. Registration begins at 7:30am and all participants will receive a logo clothing item.
The event will be scored with “Chronotrack” and a disposable d-tag. Awards will be given to Overall Male and Female (5K & 10K) and winners of various age categories.
